Be Thou alone ever my hope...my rest and tranquility...in Whom my mind and my heart be ever fixed and firm and rooted immovably. [St. Bonaventure]
Sung at the close of day in Anglican cathedrals and churches throughout the world, Choral Evensong is a service of evening prayer derived from the ancient offices of Vespers and Compline. The choir sings traditional evening prayers of the church that have been offered for centuries, while the congregation listens, joins in the hymns, and adds its own prayers to those of the choir. It is a rare opportunity for peaceful meditation before the start of a busy week.
At this Evensong, the All Saints' Choir will sing works of Harold Friedell, William H. Harris, Martin Neary and Frank Pesci; and organist and choirmaster Jeffrey L. Fuller will play organ voluntaries by Herbert Howells and Kenneth Leighton.
Following Evensong, all in attendance are invited to a reception in Reynolds Hall.
